United Church of Christ in Cornwall, Congregational

Our mission statement speaks of our responsibility as disciples to encourage all to work in faith for a better world.

"Our Church, founded in scripture and led by the Holy Spirit, is a body of faith, comprised of individual gifts and resources, assembled in unity to serve the Lord. We seek to be a loving, caring church community committed to the nurture and sharing of each other's faith and spiritual growth. Empowered by God's grace we reach out in invitation to all to join us in serving the local and world-wide community in love."

CHILDREN are encouraged to participate in mission projects.  Each class chooses a mission project and completes it during the church school year.  The entire Church School supports special projects each year, such as Heifer Project; Hats, Scarves and Mission Drive; Cereal Sunday; Peanut Butter Sunday; Thanksgiving Dinner basket; and support for our foster sister, Suleka, in West Africa.

ADULTS volunteer through the church and community to aid Operation Overflow, the Torrington Soup Kitchen, the Christmas Gift Tree, local FISH, the Cornwall Food and Fuel Bank, LaCasa, the Visiting Nurse Association, Women’s Support Services, Habitat for Humanity, The Rummage Sale, food and clothing for FISH, Susan B. Anthony Project, the CROP Walk, and a quarterly blood drive for the Red Cross.

Cornwall has a long history of serving others, dating back to the Foreign Missions School in 1817.  We believe our faith calls us to MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
